1991 Family Tree – a throwback
You might find it interesting as we throwback into the making of our first-ever ancestry charts produced more than three decades ago under the title of “1991 Family Tree.” Many of our relatives who contributed to the project, in many ways, have passed away. May Allah be pleased with all of them, ameen.
Back then, a seed was sown in OrgChart that organically grew into a Family Tree. OrgChart was an MS-DOS-based software designed to create organizational charts. The software was clearly put on a stress test, as it was loaded with hundreds of data to produce gigantic charts. The software clearly was not designed for this purpose. However, the charts were successfully printed in perforated continuous letter-size papers through a dot-matrix printer.

The printed charts were then sent to many of our family members by postal mail across borders and even continents. Some were so kind to return them back with corrections, and supplemental information. Others provided valuable feedback that served as a source of immense inspiration.
The information contained in the 1991 Family Tree is still relevant and can be used as a starting point to produce more meaningful and impactful visual reports, charts, etc. The good news is, now, we have access to some more sophisticated tools as well as an even higher level of motivation to advance the project to the next level.
